Charles Ewell Gowen, III, 46, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Chuck was born on August 24, 1966, to Frances Manning Gowen and Charles Ewell Gowen, Jr. He graduated Roanoke Rapids High School and East Carolina University.

He was a lifelong member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and was an active member of Brotherhood. Among many activities Chuck enjoyed boating, riding ATV’s and motorcycles, camping, and most especially cooking for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Clifton Gowen; his sons, Edward Carter Gowen and Matthew Charles Gowen; his mother, Frances Manning Gowen, of Glen Allen, VA; his father, Charles Ewell Gowen, Jr of Henrico; his sister, Margaret Gowen Forget and her husband, Michael Ryan Forget of Glen Allen, VA; his father-in-law, Thomas Jefferson Clifton, Jr; his mother-in-law, Linda Carter Clifton of Roanoke Rapids; his sister-in-law, Lisa Clifton Crawley and her husband, Robert Earl Crawley, Jr., of Littleton; and five nieces, Katherine Hayden Crawley, Madison Grace Crawley, Schyler Taite Crawley, Elizabeth Manning Forget and Lucie Ryan Forget.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Marjorie Holm, Rev. Fred Eichner, and Rev. Duncan Jones. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. Reception will be immediately following at All Saints’ Parish House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Will Hawkins Fund at First Citizens Bank.
